How do satellites communicates ?

Satellites communicates by using radio waves to send signals to the antennas on the Earth. The antennas then capture those signals and process the information coming from those signals.
Information can include:

• Any scientific data's like pictures the satellite took.

• conditions of the satellites.

• location of the satellites.

What are the radio waves ?

In the radio communication , radio waves are building blocks of the radio communication. Radio waves like waves on a pond, radio wave is a regular pattern of peak and valleys. The entire pattern of a wave repeat at interval time and before repeat itself is called cycle. 

Frequency 

The number of cycles, or times that a wave repeats in a second is called frequency. Frequency is measured in the unit of Hertz (Hz) i.e  number of cycles per second.

• One thousand hertz is referred to as kilohertz (KHz).
•  One million hertz as a megahertz (MHz).
• One billion hertz as a (GHz).  
• The range of radio spectrum about 3 kilohertz up to 300 gigahertz.

A radio wave is generated by the transmitter and detected by the receiver. An antenna allows a radio transmitter to send energy into space and a receiver to pick up energy from space.

An antenna is a metallic structure that captures and transmits radio electromagnetic waves. 

World's first Satellite

Sputnik I

On October 4, 1957 when was the world first Satellite successfully launched by the Soviet Union Sputnik I. The world's first artificial satellite was about the size of a beach ball 58 cm.or 22.8 inches in diameter, weighed only 83.6 kg or 183.9 pounds and took about 98 minutes to orbit the Earth on its Elliptical path.  

India's first Satellite

India's first Satellite , the Aryabhatta was launched by the again by Soviet Union on 19 April 1975 from Kapustin Yar using a Cosmos-3M launch vehicle .
