New Education Policy of India 2020

1) No Language Barrier
- In a survey out of 100 tribal children, only 20 reach high schools. Why only 20 students go for further studies and what about the other students. In all these problems a language is the major factor in this situation for the students.
- Now students can learn their study in the Regional language till the 5th standard.
- An increase in Enrollments means no. of students will increase in Rural areas.
2) Multidisciplinary Education
- Flexibility while choosing subjects means a broader choice of subjects. The border between Arts, Science, and Commerce streams will open. Now we will choose a minor subject as well while choosing the main subjects.
- Example chemistry + fashion design subjects.
- This will improve students Critical thinking, Creative thinking, Communication skill, and Design sense.
But School & College also needs to focus on Counselling for students i.e they need to help the students in choosing subjects which one is right for them and their area of interest.
3) Multiple Entry and Exit Points
If students face financial challenges or family responsibilities for College drop in middle years. They can leave and continue their studies at multiple points. If a student drops in 1st year they will get a Certificate from and In 2nd year, they will get a Diploma certificate and further year they will get graduation.
The undergraduate degree courses will be of either 3 or 4-year duration, with multiple exit options. A certificate course after completing 1 year in a discipline or field, including vocational and professional areas, or a diploma after 2 years of study, or a Bachelor's degree after a 3-year program.
The government aims at a 50% gross enrolment ratio by 2035. There will be multiple entries and exit options for those who wish to leave the course in the middle. Their credit will be transferred through Academic Bank of Credits, said Amit Khare, secretary of the education ministry.
An Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) shall be established which would digitally store the academic credits earned by the student while the college period.
4) The makeover of Report Card
- An account of skills and capabilities
- Lowered emphasis on marks
- This will encourage the passion of students.
5) Revamped Board Exams
- Focus on Skills
- Possibility of different types of Exams
- Semester wise systems
6) Focus on Vocational Studies
Every child learns at least one vocation and exposed to several more.
A sampling of important vocational crafts, such as carpentry, electric work, gardening, poetry making, etc. as decided by States and local communities during Grades 6-8.
7) Bag-less studies
A bagless period sometime during Grades 6-8 to intern with local vocational experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters, artists, etc.Similar internship opportunities to learn vocational subjects to students throughout Grades 6-12 including holiday periods.
Vocational courses through online mode will also be made available.
8) Education sector to get 6% of GDP, earlier it was 1.7%
GDP in India is expected to reach 2610 USD Billion by the end of 2020, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analyst's expectations.
9) The common regulatory body for entire higher education
Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will be set up as a single authority for entire higher education, excluding medical and legal education.
10) Digitalization
- MHRD to look after the e-education needs of both school and higher education. A comprehensive set of recommendations for promoting online educations.
- Take digital to rural areas
- Made available in regional languages.
- Digital Education for differently-abled students
- E-course in regional courses
11) New Academic session to begin in September-October
The new academic session will begin in September-October the delay is due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the government aims to introduce the policy before the new session begins.
